Pacific Dawn Naming Ceremony

Circular Quay

Sydney, November 2007

Overview:

The newly refurbished Pacific Dawn cruise liner was brought to Sydney for its official re-naming ceremony. After the official proceedings on board, Sydneysiders were treated to a ten-minute “sound-and light” spectacular using the entire 254m long ship as a screen. The Electric Canvas used ten PIGI projectors with special lenses to achieve a dynamic and colourful display from over 200m away. The ship only arrived at berth the same day so there was no opportunity to use it for programming or even to run any rehearsal prior to the show. The Electric Canvas used their PIGI “simulator” software to program the show to the time-coded soundtrack at their Sydney studio.
